Routines are boring and mind-numbing, you say? – In some instances that may be true. But certain routines can be useful to preserve enough mental capacity for really important tasks. Especially in the mornings, little energy suckers are lurking everywhere: What should I eat? What should I wear? Where do I need to go first? – The whole process can be abbreviated with a simple tactic: always eat cereal for breakfast, always (or usually) wear what’s on top of the pile, and plan outside appointments for the afternoon, if possible.
Sounds boring? – But it’s a real productivity booster! It’s worth it to switch to autopilot in the morning to then take the driver’s seat at work.
