Work hack #40: Wikis

Manuals are an important tool to describe processes and responsibilities in a company and allow for quick and uncomplicated onboarding of new employees. The “problem”: More and more organizations are increasingly undergoing constant change themselves, their processes and team constellations are in perpetual motion. Wikis are an excellent way of keeping company manuals up to date and making sure that information from all areas is incorporated. They work like a collaborative, interactive book that is continuously updated and adapted by everyone who wants to contribute. With tools such as MS Teams or Google Drive, wikis can be stored in a central location that everyone has access to. This way, changes to the manual are always visible and comprehensible for all coworkers. Especially in large organizations, a wiki is also a great tool for long-time employees to gain insight into the work of other departments and to find experts on specific questions.

Important: A wiki should be consistently maintained and updated. If something changes within the organization, write it in the wiki!
